From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The cliffhanger ending to Doctor Who series 12 will be resolved in a Dalek-filled Christmas special.

Fresh from the revelations discovered in the “overwhelmingly busy” finale, Jodie Whittaker will return ahead of a brand new series that is expected to air in 2021.

The one-off special will see the Doctor take on one of her most feared enemies, the Daleks. Suitably, the episode will be titled “Revolution of the Daleks”.

Showrunner Chris Chibnall said: “We can’t leave the Doctor there! On that cliffhanger! Well, we did. But rest assured, the Doctor and her friends will be back for a one-off extended Special around Christmas and New Year. (I don’t know when they’re going to put it on yet, otherwise we’d tell you!).

He added; “There will be Daleks. There will be exterminations. Thrills, laughter, tears. You know. The usual. See you at the end of the year.”

Tosin Cole, Mandip Gill and Bradley Walsh will all appear in the episode as the characters Ryan, Yaz and Graham, respectively.
