Are the Daleks returning to Doctor Who?

Fans have been speculating that the iconic villains could feature heavily in the upcoming New Year’s Day special (titled “Resolution”), the trailer for which was released alongside the final episode of the eleventh season.

“This is the DNA of the most dangerous creature in the universe!” Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor tells her three companions. “It’s not going to stop until it’s taken control of this planet. It’s going to kill anyone that gets in its way.”

After Bradley Walsh’s Graham asks ”Does it have a name?” the Doctor does not reply, leaving fans to speculate that a familiar foe will ne making an appearance. Watch the teaser above.

Meanwhile, the BBC has confirmed that Whittaker will return for another season as the Time Lord, but not until 2020.

We’re off again! Well we never actually stopped,” showrunner Chris Chibnall said. “As Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor and friends have been winning the hearts of families across the nation this autumn, we’ve been busy with a whole new set of action packed adventures for the 13th Doctor.

Whittaker recently confirmed she would return to the role, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “I really can’t wait to step back in and get to work again.... I’m not quite ready to hand it over yet.”
