From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Disney+ has arrived in the UK four months after its US launch, and there’s actually a way for users to get the first six months free.
If you’re wanting to stream the bursting list of titles, including Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars films and TV shows, and you happen to be an 02 customer, you’re in luck.
The mobile network provider recently announced it holds exclusive UK rights for Disney+ and, to mark the launch, it’s offering any new customers the deal when they opt in to one of 02’s latest monthly pay plans.
This deal extends to existing customers wishing tp upgrade, also.
For those who are happy with their current deal but still wish to download Disney+, you will have £2 knocked off your monthly bill.
If you happened to pre-order Disney+ at any stage, you will be paying a reduced price of £49.99 for an annual subscription.
For everyone else, it costs £5 a month and you can find a breakdown of how to get Disney+ on your TV here.
