The Crown star Emma Corrin has revealed that the cast went “completely silent” when they first saw her wearing a recreation of Princess Diana’s wedding dress.
Corrin will take on the role of the late princess in the fourth season of the Netflix hit, which will depict Diana’s 1981 wedding to Prince Charles.
The Crown’s costume designers managed to convincingly recreate the dress worn by Diana, Corrin told Vogue.
“The Emanuels, who designed the original, gave us the patterns, and then it was made for me,” she said.
“We were filming the scene when you first see her in the wedding dress – I think it was Lancaster House in London – and I had a team of about 10 people helping me put it on, because it's massive.
“I walked out and everyone went completely silent. More than anything else I wear in the series, it's so... it's her.”
Season 4 of The Crown will be Olivia Colman’s last as Queen Elizabeth, with Imelda Staunton taking on the role for the fifth and six seasons, which will be the series’ last.
Tenet star Elizabeth Debicki will play Diana in the show’s final two seasons.
The Crown season 4 will premiere on 15 November on Netflix.
