At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

It may have killed at least 2,800 people worldwide, but this didn’t stop Trevor Noah and Stephen Colbert from mining the situation for a few laughs – mainly targeting the way the Trump administration is handling the situation.
Noah, in particular, said he felt comfortable that Vice President Mike Pence is the face of the White House's response to the virus considering he “has been quarantining himself from women all his life”.
Meanwhile, Colbert quipped: “Now concerns of a global pandemic are growing but fear not, the president knows he has a solemn duty to proetct... himself, because the Trump campaign is afraid the coronavirus wil hurt his re-election bid."
Referencing Trump's phone call to Ukraine, in which he requested details on Joe Biden's son, Hunter, Colbert continued: "I look forward to that transcript being released: “Hello Ukraine – I need dirt on a Hunter Coronavirus.”
He shared a clip of Trump saying “there’s a very good chance you’re not gonna die”, adding sarcastically: “That’s very comforting, thank you very much.”
Colbert continued: “Fear of the virus has led many to wear masks in the United States and the CDC (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention) has released this actual graphic detailing which styles of facial hair are best for wearing respirator masks, and which ones do not work.”
Highlighting an image of a bearded person with a big cross over his face, Colbert jokily exclaimed: “Oh my God, all of Brooklyn is dead.”
