Celebrity magician Dynamo had said that he was dedicating his new TV show Beyond Belief to frontline NHS workers, before testing positive for coronavirus.

Speaking to Metro last week, Dynamo said: "I think that in the show you see the incredible support that I have from the NHS who help get me back to my health."

"The NHS did such an amazing job," he continued. "These are the unsung heroes who are really creating magic out there and right now, I think the whole nation is appreciating what they're doing."

Talking about the nationwide applause that took place a week ago, Dynamo said: "I was on my balcony clapping like everybody else. I think the show in some ways is dedicated to the front line staff and those doing the real magic out there."

Dynamo: Beyond Belief is a three-part series that will air on Sky One on 9 April, and will combine sequences of magic with the behind-the-scenes story of Dynamo's recent medical struggles.

The magician revealed that he was tested for coronavirus because he had “existing health issues” and is “on immonusuppressive therapy”.

Sharing the news in an Instagram video, Dynamo noted that he has not had a fever, but his “symptoms have been quite severe”.

“I’ve had my results back now and unfortunately, I have tested positive for Covid-19,” he said. “This illness can affect anyone; it doesn’t discriminate and it can present itself in many different ways.”
