From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Comedy Central Roast has landed yet another high-profile celebrity as this year’s roastee: Bruce Willis.

The Die Hard actor follows in the footsteps of various household names, including Justin Bieber, James Franco, Charlie Sheen, and a pre-President Donald Trump.

“This ain’t the first time I’ll be tied to a chair and held hostage by a group of humourless assholes for a couple hours,” Willis said in a statement.

Kent Alterman, president of Comedy Central, added: “Bruce has survived terrorists, Armageddon, romance and death itself. Yet, nothing has prepared him for this Roast.”

While best known for action movies such as the Die Hard series, The Expendables, and Unbreakable, Willis has appeared in numerous critical darlings, including Pulp Fiction, Moonrise Kingdom, and 12 Monkeys.

Chances are, the roasters – who are yet to be announced – will be more concerned with Willis’s recent string of Direct-to-DVD releases, such as Vice (4% on aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes), Precious Cargo (0%), and First Kill (14%).

The Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis will film this Summer.

Other celebrities to have taken part in previous Roasts include Pamela Anderson, Larry the Cable Guy, Joan Rivers, and David Hasslehoff.

William Shatner’s episode marks the only time that the Comedy Central Roast was nominated for an Emmy, for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Special.
