Culinary delights will be served up by boxer Joe Calzaghe, Boyzone star Shane Lynch and Mercury Prize-winner Speech Debelle in the in the new series of of Celebrity MasterChef.

John Torode and Gregg Wallace will once again put 16 celebrities through their paces in six challenges over a two-day period which will decide who gets a place in the quarter-finals.

Coronation Street villain Brian Capron and comedy actor Ade Edmondson are among the stars taking part in the show when it returns to BBC1, along with actress Denise Black - who is soon to join the cast of Emmerdale - and comics Katy Brand and Shappi Khorsandi.

The lineup also features TV entertainer Les Dennis, Cold Feet actor John Thomson, Mercury Prize-winner Speech Debelle, Heidi Range of Sugababes , former Independent on Sunday editor Janet Street- Porter, TV presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff and Jo Wood, the ex-wife of Rolling Stone Ronnie.

Also competing will be triple jumper Phillips Idowu and cricketer Matthew Hoggard.

Quarter finalists will have to impress previous contestants, including 2010 champion Lisa Faulkner and the victor in 2011, Phil Vickery.

Executive producer of the six week series, Carla-Maria Lawson, said: "In this series, the contestants' enthusiasm in their pursuit of the MasterChef trophy is palpable, often inspiring and sometimes very very funny."
