Angie Bowie - the ex-wife of the late David Bowie - has decided to leave the Celebrity Big Brother house after feeling 'unwell for a few days', Channel 5 have confirmed.

The network controversially showed footage of the 66-year-old crying after hearing the news of her ex-husband's death only days ago.

A Channel 5 spokesperson said: “After being unwell for a few days, Angie Bowie has decided to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House."

It is currently unknown why she was ill, the spokesperson adding that all will be addressed in tonight's live show.

Earlier on in the series, over 200 viewers complained to Ofcom after co-CBB star Tiffany Pollard started crying after she was told David Bowie had died, mistakingly thinking that David Gest - who was also on the show at the time - had died.

Gest left the show one day ago, citing 'medical reasons' for leaving the house. Jonathan Cheban also quit the show this series, explaining how David Bowie's death had become “a little bit of a joke” inside the house .
