Castlevania’s first season was met with huge praise, anime and video-game fans alike won over by the Netflix series – the only problem was that the entire series was just four half-hour episodes long.

Following the rapturous reception, the streaming service decided to renew series, announcing that a second season consisting of eight episodes would soon be released.

Netflix has since confirmed the second season’s release date – 26 October 2018 – and revealed the first two images from the upcoming episodes. See below.

Castlevania — written by best-selling author and comic-book icon Warren Ellis — follows Trevor Belmont (voiced by Richard Armitage, who played Thorin Oakenshield in The Hobbit) as he tries to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe (Graham McTavish, Dwalin in The Hobbit).

The first episodes were initially based on the popular video-game Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. Originally released on the NES, the game followed Trevor Belmont – wielder of the Vampire Killer Whip – as he attempted to take back Europe from Dracula.

Castlevania is currently streaming on Netflix, with season two reaching the service 26 October.
