At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Your support makes all the difference.Caprice Bourret has hit out at ITV over her abrupt exit from Dancing on Ice, claiming that the broadcaster provided her “no duty of care”.
Bourret was partnered with professional ice skater Hamish Gaman for the first two weeks of the most recent series of Dancing on Ice, before the pair split. Bourret was then partnered with Oscar Peter, before quitting the show all-together.
Speaking to The Sun, Bourret condemned ITV for her treatment in the aftermath of the show.
“There is no duty of care,” she said. “In America, they have to have it or they get sued.”
She continued: “It’s just thinking about other people, it’s just common decency, I think, when it comes to these kind of destructive shows. We have to have a soul at some point for God’s sakes.”
She also said that she would no longer appear on reality television as a result of her experience on Dancing on Ice.
“I used to love reality, but I won’t be doing it again,” the model and entrepreneur said.
In a statement, ITV disputed Bourret’s claims.
“We take our duty of care very seriously,” the broadcaster said. “We have always been fully committed to ensuring that everyone involved on Dancing on Ice is fully supported and keep a close eye on everyone’s well being throughout the series. We are very proud of the brilliant team both on and off-screen who deliver a fantastic show each week.”
Earlier this month, Gaman pulled out of the ITV series after “struggling” for months. He wrote in his own statement that he “was told by the team who reviewed all the rehearsal footage that I was an exemplary pro” and disputed any claims to the contrary.
