Iconic 'Say my name' scene from Breaking Bad starring Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston may not be in the Breaking Bad film, but that’s not stopped the actor from stating what he’d like to see happen in it.

Last month, a follow-up film based on the hit AMC series was seemingly confirmed, with events said to focus on Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) in the aftermath of the finale which aired in 2010.

The film, expected to debut on television as part of Vince Gilligan’s Sony deal, will last for two hours and will follow Jesse’s “quest for freedom” after escaping his captors.

Walter White actor Cranston has now waded in, expressing what he’d like from the film.

“I would like to see — and again I have no idea if this is what [Vince is] thinking about — I would like to see [Jesse] struggle to break that mould and eventually break out and find his own real true calling,” he told IndieWire. “Something that empowered him as a human being, that is on the straight and narrow, that allows him to be able to open up, to let another human being into his life. And be happy. Because I don’t sense that he was really ever happy.”

Production on Greenbriar has reportedly begun and will last until February 2019.

Breaking Bad, which follows a chemistry teacher who turns to a life of crime after being diagnosed with lung cancer, began in 2008. Prequel series Better Call Saul recently wrapped its fourth season, with Gilligan stating the fifth could be its last.

Another TV series getting the film treatment is HBO’s Deadwood that finally began production this month with 12 original cast members – including Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant and Breaking Bad‘s very own Anna Gunn – set to return.

It was also recently revealed that Andrew Lincoln would star in a trilogy of films dedicated to his Walking Dead character Rick Grimes having left the series in its ninth season.
