Blue Planet II has been revealed as the UK’s most-watched television show of 2017.

The series, narrated by David Attenborough, stunned viewers with its continued groundbreaking approach to capturing nature in all its vivid glory, with the first episode attracting more than 14 million viewers to BBC1. The show also boasts the four most-watched single episodes.

Strictly Come Dancing came in second place, followed by I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, the One Love Manchester concert, Broadchurch, and Britain’s Got Talent – as measured by the highest-rated episode of each programme. All figures were calculated by Barb, and include +1 and HD data where appropriate.

The Great British Bake Off was the most-watched programme of last year. However, it is significantly absent from this year’s top 10; showing just how damaging the series’ move from the BBC to Channel 4 really was.
