From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Sources told The Sunday People: “Blankety Blank was such a huge hit in the 80s and ITV bosses want to replicate that success.”
The show debuted in 1979, with Terry Wogan acting as host until 1983 when he was succeeded by Les Dawson, who appeared on the show until 1990.
Paul O’Grady took over as host when the BBC brought back Blankety Blank in 1997, moving over to ITV in 2001 when it was taken off-air in 2002.
“There’s a strong history of game shows being revived,” the source continued. "They are known to carry on straight where they left off… UK audiences love a good game show.”
The US version of the game show, which requires contestants to guess the missing word in a sentence, titled Match Game, is also set to return, with Alec Baldwin as host.
