Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

"I can't talk for long," Maxine Peake's character strains into the walkie-talkie, her voice dripping with fear. "We found a dog at the warehouse."

Black Mirror's 'Metalhead', the series' first black-and-white episode, sets up a truly terrifying affair; what are these "dogs"? Exactly how dangerous are they? Who created them?

It's one of several trailers that have slowly made their way to the internet ahead of the upcoming fourth season, set to debut on Netflix, alongside teasers for the Jodie Foster-director 'Arkangel', the memory-tripping 'Crocodile', and the sinister 'Black Museum'.

'Metalhead' is directed by David Slade, best known for his work on Breaking Bad and American Gods, and written by series creator Charlie Brooker.

Speaking to The Independent earlier this year, the show’s producer Annabel Jones offered some insight into the episode.

"This film is in black and white which is a new thing for Black Mirror but it feels the creative decision was earned by the world we’re portraying," she said.

Black Mirror season 4 does not yet have a release date.
