From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Being an anthology series, Black Mirror is free to enlist a diverse range of talent permitted to add their unique spin to each standalone episode.

With production on the third series in full swing, details on Charlie Brooker's television series - which was snatched from Channel 4 by Netflix - have been revealed over the past month.

It's no surprise that an impressive writing-directing team has been assembled including Joe Wright (Atonement), Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation) and Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), but it's not stopping there: Portishead's Geoff Barrow will team up with his Ex Machina collaborator Ben Salisbury to score some of the new episodes.

Brooker confirmed the news via Twitter, where he went on to name an impressive list of other composers who'll also be scoring episodes - namely Clint Mansell, Max Richter and Bear McCreary.

Mansell is the English composer behind such atmospheric films as Black Swan, Stoker and Ben Wheatley's High-Rise while the acclaimed Richter provides the original score for HBO series The Leftovers.

McCreary's work on Black Mirror will be the latest in a long line of impressive TV credits; he currently scores Outlander, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Walking Dead. He also scored this year's 10 Cloverfield Lane so perhaps a reunion with Trachtenberg is on the cards?

Actors this season include Jurassic World's Bryce Dallas Howard, Star Trek Into Darkness’ Alice Eve, 22 Jump Street’s Wyatt Russell and The Martian’s Mackenzie Davis.

Barrow and Salisbury are also set to collaborate with director Alex Garland again on new sci-fi Annihilation which will be released in 2017.

All six episodes of Black Mirror's third season will be available to view on Netflix from 21 October 2016.
