Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Channel controller Zai Bennett said the move, which starts in August with the new series of Jack Whitehall's Bad Education, suited its "digitally savvy" audience.
He said: "We've already been experimenting with online content, starting with the hugely popular Comedy Feeds, now in their second season and with a third in the pipeline. Premiering our scripted comedies on BBC iPlayer is an obvious and exciting step forward for BBC Three, and yet another innovative way to give our viewers more choice in the ways they can enjoy our programmes."
The move comes after the BBC announced Peter Kay's new sitcom would be its first series shown in its entirety on the catch-up service before hitting television screens.
The six-episode BBC One series called Car Share features the Bolton-born comic as a supermarket worker called John thrown together with a female colleague in a company car share scheme.
