Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The first teaser for Atlanta season 2 (aka Robbin' Season) was really about setting the mood, but this new trailer arriving from FX this morning features a ton of footage from the actual episodes.
Set to Yellow Days' "Gap in the Clouds", it sees Paper Boi looking unimpressed as he's asked to give a more "party" vocal take, a new guest at his crib, and a dealer snapping a photo of him sampling weed strains with Darius.
Ern and Vanessa's semi-relationship still seems to be alive meanwhile, the pair being seen in the back of a cab and playing an angry game of ping pong.
Instead of the standard 'season 2' naming, Atlanta has gone with "Robbin' Season'", a term, originating in Atlanta itself, for the period leading up to Christmas when there's a big spike in domestic robberies.
"People have gifts, have more stuff, and money,” writer Stephen Glover said recently.
"You might get your package stolen off your front porch. While we were there, my neighbor got her car stolen from her driveway. It’s a very tense and desperate time. Our characters are in a desperate transition from their old lives to where they’re headed now. And robbin’ season is a metaphor to where we are now."
“Are you gonna eat or are you gonna be eaten?” Donald Glover explained. “I think that’s something people don’t realize. Black people have to make a choice. That choice defines who you are. It’s hard."
Atlanta: Robbin Season begins 1 March on FX with a UK release date to follow.
