Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Unlike other platforms, it won’t have a huge back catalogue and will instead focus on original movies and TV shows.

Apple has brought in an impressive line-up of Hollywood actors to star in its shows, from Jennifer Aniston and Jason Momoa to Octavia Spencer.

The service will be available in the TV app that is pre-installed on iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, Apple TVs, and soon Macs.

In December, mystery drama Truth Be Told starring Octavia Spencer and Aaron Paul will land on the platform. It follows a true-crime podcaster and journalist as she reinvestigates a murder and questions if she helped put the wrong man behind bars for it.

Whimsical literary biopic Dickinson, a coming-of-age story in which Hailee Steinfeld will portray one of America’s most famous poets, Emily Dickinson, will also air on the service.

And Lisey's Story, with Clive Owen and Julianne Moore, revolves around a woman facing repressed realisations about her husband two years after his death.

Nature documentary The Elephant Queen, Chicago-set drama Hala and period piece The Banker are among the films to launch on the service after initially being screened in cinemas.
