Ryan Murphy has teased American Horror Story season 10 with a first look at the poster for the new story.

In a picture shared to Instagram by Murphy, a screaming mouth can be seen with painted red lips and teeth sharpened down into razor-like points. Next to it is a hand in blue gloves holding a silver tattoo pen, with the words: “AHS 10 FX” engraved on the tongue.

The image’s location was tagged as Provincetown, Massachusetts, which may also be a clue.

The screaming, red-lipped mouth is a repeated motif in a number of AHS posters, having previously been seen in artwork for the Coven, Freak Show, Hotel and 1984 seasons.

It’s also not the first time the Ratched creator has teased season 10 with a picture of these fangs. Murphy shared a similar image to his social media in August, as he announced that filming was beginning after it was pushed back due to the pandemic.

“Looks like American Horror Story Season 10 is go for an October (fitting) production launch,” he wrote. “Thanks to everyone who is working hard to assure a safe start for the cast and crew. And yes this is a clue.”

The latest picture left fans guessing what the new season could have in store, with guesses ranging from “body modifications” to “sirens and mermaids”.

The second guess may have a connection to another clue posted by Murphy in May, when he shared a photo of a serene looking beach covered with sharp wooden fencing. He captioned the Instagram post: “American Horror Story. Clue.”

In line with the new photo’s tag, this photo may have been taken in the coastal resort town of Provincetown.

Back in March, he posted another picture of grey-looking hands emerging from the sea, next to the words “American Horror Story 10”. “Things are beginning to wash up on shore…,” he wrote.
