Ricky Gervais’s new show will soon be released on Netflix.

After Life, created, directed, and co-executive produced by Gervais, also stars the English comedian in the lead performance.

It was revealed in May 2018 that the Office alum would return to acting for a Netflix show. Here is everything we know about After Life so far:

Release date

After Life will premiere on Netflix on 8 March, Deadline reported on Monday.

The first season will be comprised of six episodes.

Concept

After Life centres around Tony, a man whose life takes a turn after the death of his wife.

The description provided by Netflix reads as such: “A devastated widower adopts a ‘nothing to lose’ approach to life that causes him to make unexpected new connections."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony initially contemplates ending his own life after his wife's death, but instead resolves to say and do whatever he wants for the rest of his existence.

His plan his disrupted when those around him try to rescue the Tony they once knew.

Cast

Gervais, who plays Tony, has a host of famous faces accompanying him on this new venture.

Penelope Wilton, seen in Downton Abbey and Doctor Who, is one of them, along with David Bradley, who appeared in the Harry Potter series.

Ashley Jensen, Tony Way, Tom Basden, David Earl, Joe Wilkinson and Kerry Godliman have all landed spots in the cast.
