From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

For 50 Cent, it was a moment of travesty. Unfortunately, his Starz show Power failed to land a single nomination in the TV category; a revelation that he was less than happy about.
Taking to Instagram, in an evocative shot of him sadly looking at his phone and (presumably) the bad news that he wasn't nominated, 50 Cent wrote: "Golden Globes can suck a d*ck. I accept my series Power was not intended to be a signature show for the network but it is the highest rated show. I know my audience very well, I'm done promoting this outside of contractual obligations. SEASON 4 KANAN MUST DIE, I got other sh*t to do."
He then posted another photo of what appears to be a fake promo for the show's fourth season, with Floyd Mayweather replacing himself; with a caption reading, "I'm off the Power train, champ is gonna do the show. Go to him for more info, I gotta do something different".
The rapper executive produces the show as well as starring in a main role; in a series which follows NYC nightclub owner James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) as he struggles to balance his work, marriage, and dealings in one of the city's biggest illegal drug networks.
Power has sat fairly low on the critical radar, though its third season saw ratings surge by more than 50% after a move to Sunday night - outperforming Starz's other major drama Outlander, which saw a Golden Globe nomination for its lead Caitriona Balfe. The question is: does popularity automatically deserve critical accolade?
Power has been renewed for both season 4 and season 5, though an insider told Variety that there's no internal concern that 50 Cent will actually leave the show.
