From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Pritchard and Farah were voted off the 20th season of the hit reality series, just one day after the previous night’s shock double eviction saw actor Jessica Plummer and singer Russell Watson booted from Gwrych castle.
Last night’s episode saw Plummer (who has since left the series) and Pritchard take on the Castle Coin challenge, winning Pritchard, Jordan North and Giovanna Fletcher their treats from home. The snacks included a Kinder Bueno bar for North and two chocolate hobnob biscuits for Fletcher.
Then, Pritchard and Farah took on their last-ever Bushtucker Trial. Ominously named Game of Groans, the task at hand saw the two celebrities attempting to memorise a board of symbols while sitting strapped to chairs on a spinning platform. All the while the two stars were showered with cockroaches, maggots and mealworms released from a vent overhead. Pritchard and Farah won three out of the six stars available.
Speaking to Ant and Dec after the eviction, Pritchard reflected on his time in the castle fondly. He said: “You don’t know what to expect after watching the show as a superfan, but it’s been so much better.”
When asked what Farah will miss the most about I’m a Celebrity, the Olympic athlete told the hosts: “I’ll miss having a laugh together.”
“I watched this show over the years and all I wanted to do is challenge myself,” he said before joking: “I know I can run.”
