After Jordan North revealed he was a “last minute” replacement on this year’s I’m a Celebrity, fans were left wondering who he stepped in for.
Earlier this week, North, who ended up finishing in second place, told his fellow Radio 1 DJ Greg James that he almost missed out on a spot and was told “maybe next year” by producers.
However, when a mystery celebrity dropped out, he was given 48 hours to pull everything together in order to be in north Wales in time for the show’s launch last month.
Just days later, though, the identity of this famous person has seemingly been unveiled.
According to a new report, the BBC Radio 1 DJ was drafted in after British rapper and DJ Naughty Boy – whose real name is Shahid Khan –pulled out of the ITV show.
The Sun claims that producers “were gutted” when he quit the series due to an illness in his family.
Bosses were said to be hoping he had some entertaining anecdotes about the musicians he’s collaborated with, including Beyonce, Sam Smith and former One Direction star Zayn Malik.
Naughty Boy, whose collaborations have racked up hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, once appeared on Channel 4 game show Deal or No Deal, winning £44,000.
This year’s I’m a Celebrity was won by author and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher.
The Independent has contacted Naughty Boy’s representatives for comment.
