AJ Pritchard has revealed that this year’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmates had secret heating lamps in their sleeping area.

The former Strictly pro was one of 12 contestants taking part in this year’s series, which took place in Wales for the first time in the show’s history.

With the stars swapping the tropical Australian jungle for Gwyrch Castle, viewers expected to see them shivering in the 19th century building, but were instead surprised to see them walking around in t-shirts.

This led to speculation among fans that the castle had central heating, which Pritchard went part-way to confirming on his podcast AJ vs Curtis.

“We had heat lamps above, and you probably couldn’t see this on camera, but the heat lamps would maybe turn on at about 2am and about maybe 5am to make it feel warm in the sleeping areas,” he revealed.

“One night I thought I was going to be absolutely freezing and went to bed wearing multiple layers. I had a hot flush at like 4 or 5am and I had to take all of my clothes off.”

Pritchard admitted that while he initially found the castle’s conditions “too easy”, the camp was generally very cold.

The dancer and choreographer was the seventh contestant to be eliminated from the I’m a Celebrity camp two days before the final, which saw Giovanna Fletcher triumph over Jordan North to be named the show’s first ever Queen of the Castle.
