The first footage of Game of Thrones season eight has been unveiled in a trailer promoting HBO's new 2019 releases.
Daenerys takes centre stage in the brief clip, which shows Emilia Clarke's character arriving in Winterfell where she's greeted by Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington).
“Winterfell is yours, your grace,” Sansa says to Daenerys in what will be the first time the pair have shared screen time since the series began in 2011.
Other shows to feature in the trailer include the premium cable service's new adaptation of Watchman from Damon Lindelof. It marks the Lost co-creator's next project since the conclusion of his acclaimed series The Leftovers, which starred Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon and Ann Dowd. This new version of the beloved graphic novel series stars Jeremy Irons in the lead role.
The trailer also shows Meryl Streep alongside Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in the follow-up season to Big Little Lies, which is expected to arrive on screens ahead of Thrones in March.
It was recently revealed that Game of Thrones would return to HBO and Sky Atlantic in April. Fans of the fantasy series have since narrowed down the release date to two possible selections, the strongest contender of which is 28 April.
Teasing the final episodes, which will showcase the show’s most elaborate battle yet, co-executive producer Bryan Cogman said: “It’s about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death.”
New shows set to premiere throughout 2019 include the Jordan Peele/J.J. Abrams horror drama Lovecraft Country and Kathryn Hahn comedy Mrs Fletcher.
