From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Fans of Game of Thrones have created a petition to give the eighth season of Game of Thrones a do-over.
The petition, posted on Change.org, has received more than 33,000 signatures so far. The total was increasing by the minute on Wednesday evening, bringing it ever closer to its goal of 35,000 signatures.
“This series deserves a final season that makes sense,” reads the petition‘s description.
“Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, the final episode of which is due to air on Sunday, has left many fans disappointed despite impressive audience numbers.
The show’s most recent episode, The Bells, has proved particularly divisive, mainly due to Daenerys Targaryen’s storyline, which saw her burn down King’s Landing.
Game of Thrones previously caught flak after a modern-looking coffee cup was left by mistake in The Last of the Starks, the fourth episode in season eight.
The fantasy drama is available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK, and on HBO in the US.
