From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The second episode of Game of Thrones season eight has leaked online hours before broadcast.

The next instalment of the HBO show’s final season will air simultaneously in the UK – on Sky Atlantic – and the US from 2am GMT, but eager fans wanting to have the surprises spoiled found they could do so thanks to Amazon Prime in Germany.

Subscribers catching up with the first outing, titled “Winterfell”, couldn’t believe their luck when the second episode began airing immediately after.

Tonight’s episode will focus on Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) after his return to Winterfell. Considering his questionable actions in the past, including pushing Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) from a window and killing Daenerys’ father, it’s certain he won’t receive the nicest welcome.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that George RR Martin – the author of the show’s source material – almost featured an incestuous relationship that’s impossible to comprehend.

The final season of Game of Thrones continues every Sunday. You can find a countdown of every single episode here.

The show will be available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
