Game of Thrones: Two major prophecies could come true when Arya comes to King's Landing

Fans think not one, but two forewarnings could become reality as the remaining army of the living march on Cersei Lannister

**Spoiler warning for Game of Thrones season 8, episode 3, "The Long Night"**

Game of Thrones fans were stunned after a surprise hero emerged to destroy the army of the dead in season eight’s third episode, “The Long Night”.

Just as the Night King loomed over Bran in the Godswood, Arya Stark came out of nowhere to stab him with her Valyrian steel dagger, killing him and consequently his entire army of wights and White Walkers.

Following the bloody episode, a trailer for episode four shows the remaining army of the living marching on King’s Landing, where Cersei has been holed up with her Golden Army after betraying Daenerys and Jon Snow.

Fans are now drawing together two major Game of Thrones prophesies to wonder whether Arya might be about to take down another major enemy – Cersei Lannister herself.

Just moments before she faced the Night King, Melisandre took time to repeat the prophecy she had made for Arya when they first met in season three. She had told the Stark girl she would “shut many eyes forever. Brown eyes, green eyes… and blue eyes”.

Many fans have taken the brown eyes to refer to Walder Frey and his family, whom Arya took care of in season six. The blue eyes obviously refer to the White Walkers, so that leaves the green eyes.

Those could belong to Cersei herself, but also her twin brother Jaime, who was also famous in the Song of Ice and Fire books for his cat-green eyes and golden hair.

Some are now merging Melisandre’s prophecy with the “valonqar” one that was told to Cersei when she was a girl, which said she would die at the hands of a “little brother”. This could mean either Jaime or Tyrion, but many seem to like the idea that Arya could change her face to pose as Jaime and murder Cersei for good measure.

When Arya wreaked havoc on House Frey while wearing Walder Frey’s face, Cersei scolded his men: “But you didn’t slaughter every one of the Starks. No, no, no. That was your mistake. You should have ripped them all out, root and stem. Leave one wolf alive, and the sheep are never safe.”

Given that words on Game of Thrones are often so loaded with meaning, and that Dany echoes the “root and stem” comment when talking about getting rid of Cersei in the trailer for episode four, it’s possible Arya will be sent into the Red Keep to stealth-kill the queen.
