The cast of Frasier have reunited for an hour-long YouTube video for the Stars in the House channel to raise money for The Actors Fund during the coronavirus pandemic.

Kelsey Grammer, who played the elitist psychiatrist Frasier Crane in the beloved sitcom, attended the reunion via video link, along with co-stars David Hyde Pierce, Jane Leeves, Peri Gilpin, Dan Butler and Bebe Neuwirth.

Interviewed by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, Grammer revealed that he had initially rejected the idea of the popular Cheers character recieving his own spin-off.

“My original thought was that Frasier should die with Cheers,” he said, “and that we should do something else.”

When he saw the dialogue written for Frasier’s fussy brother Niles (Hyde Pierce), Grammer said: “I thought they’d written two of the same character. I thought, ‘What a stupid thing to do!’”

The rest of the cast also shared good-natured anecdotes about their time on Frasier.

The entire interview is available to watch on YouTube – but fans of the series could soon be getting something even better.

The cast declined to give any details during the interview, but Grammer confirmed last year that a full, scripted revival is currently in the works.
