The word on... The X Factor, ITV
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

They were not my favourite, so I did not vote for them, but they were not the worst act of the first live show. The reason I think girl bands don't do well on 'The X Factor' is because most people who like girl bands are not in on a Saturday night in front of the telly. They are probably out partying."

"Laura White is the hottest early favourite 'The X Factor' has ever seen after she wowed in her debut live performance on the 'X Factor' on Saturday night."
"Is someone feeding the 'X Factor' stylists hallucinogenic drugs? We only ask because surely someone in control of their mind wouldn't dress an entire cast in bargain-basement satin?"
"Daniel [Evans] sounded like a terrible pub-singer during his awful rendition of 'I Want To Know What Love Is', and Louis [Walsh] pointed out, quite correctly, that he looks like Ricky Gervais. It was a joke that he wasn't in the bottom two. We were also listening out for the laughter track during Scott's [Bruton] song 'Yeah Yeah', which was just hideous."
