From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Patsy Kensit will join the likes of Katie Hopkins, Nadia Sawalha and Perez Hilton when she enters the Celebrity Big Brother house tonight.

The former EastEnders star has been confirmed to take part in the ‘twisted fairytale’ themed series, hosted once again by Emma Willis and Rylan Clark.

But who is she, really? Only time will tell, but here’s what we know so far:

Who?

Patsy Kensit, 46

Where do I know that face from?

English actress Patsy is known for playing Sadie King in EastEnders and Faye Byrne in Holby City. Her marriages to Jim Kerr and Liam Gallagher have also been well-documented.

Her father James ‘Jimmy the Dip’ Kensit was an associate of infamous London gangsters the Kray twins.

Why Celebrity Big Brother?

Patsy is a long-time CBB fan and definitely thinks the show is still relevant. She wanted to be a part of it before she turns 50 in three years.

Patsy wants to see how “mentally tough” she can be and plans to use meditation to guide her through the experience.

What can we expect?

Not much in the way of gossip sadly, as Patsy thinks the house is “not the right environment” to dish the dirt on other celebrities. Yes, that means no bad words on Jim or Liam.

“I am really trying to live in the moment and I’ve got nothing to hide,” she says. “You’re either going to love me or hate me and I don’t really care.”

Patsy also farts, a lot. Fellow housemates – you have been warned.

Odds of winning?

Patsy is certainly in with a shot according to Ladbrokes, who has given her odds of 12/1.
