With less than two weeks of the series left to go, the twists in this year’s Love Island have started to come thick and fast.

For tonight’s (Wednesday, 11 August) episode of the hit ITV2 reality show, viewers were warned they will be treated to another one – as a shock recoupling saw Matt evicted from the villa.

A preview of the episode gave Love Island fans an idea of what to expect, but the identity of the booted contestant was kept secret before airing.

In the episode, the islanders were seen relaxing in the garden, when Faye was sent a text with the message: Islanders. Tonight, there will be a recoupling.

“The girls will each choose which boy they want to couple up with. The boy not picked to be in a couple will be dumped from the Island. #grabaman #girlboss”

All the contestants then gather by the side of the fire pit for the recoupling.

The girls then picked their prospective partners, until it was only Matt and Brett left, with Priya eventually picking new boy Brett.

“I feel like, with one of the boys, conversation flows really easily. I’m really comfortable with him,” she said. “It helps that I can stare into his eyes all day.”

Viewers shared their devastation at Matt being kicked off the series on social media.

Love Island airs at 9pm on ITV2 every day other than Saturdays.

Episodes are available to watch the following morning on ITV Hub and BritBox.
