From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Speaking to The Independent ahead of Toy Story 4 hitting cinemas today, he said: “I think every time one ended I thought we were saying goodbye.”
“I think the riskiest one was the second one because the test was, can the people at Pixar live up to the gravitas of the first one? And it happened. It’s happened every time.”
The latest animated film from Pixar follows the story of a host of familiar Toy Story characters as they’re joined by a new addition Forky, voiced by Tony Hale, a toy their new owner Bonnie has made at school.
“This opens up another world,” said Tim Allen, who plays Buzz Lightyear in the franchise, “This is a magic one, and to me, it’s very different. Somehow they made a story bigger than anything else. They made the woman the hero, which was so organic.”
‘Toy Story 4’ is released in UK cinemas on Friday 21 July.
