For six performances only, Arthur Smith (right) is bringing his 1995 Edinburgh triumph, his own 42-minute Hamlet, to the West End. In the words of the great man himself, this is "a profound meditation on the nature of depression, despair and revenge. I adopt a cubist approach to the text and the result is annoyingly pretentious but not very long." There is also a special treat in the shape of Sally Phillips's Ophelia.
There are 20 pairs of tickets on offer to Independent readers for the first night of Arthur Smith's Hamlet at the Duke of York's Theatre, London, WC2. Call the box-office on 0171-836 5122, quoting this offer.
