This summer the Three Choirs Festival takes place in Gloucester from 15-22 Aug and celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Sir Hubert Parry (1848-1918). The emphasis throughout the week is, of course, on the English choral tradition, yet this purely orchestral concert from the Philharmonia, conducted by Richard Hickox (above), offers a very rare opportunity to hear Parry's Symphony No 4.
