Later this year, ace comedy actors James Dreyfus and Kathy Burke will hit our TV screens in Jonathan Harvey's first sitcom. The latter resuscitated the career of The Mamas and the Papas when their songs were woven into the texture of his upbeat fairy tale Beautiful Thing. Since then, his plays have tried to deal with the darker side of life. Guiding Star has plenty of Harvey's smartmouthed sentiment and comedy but at its core, it investigates the effects of the guilt and trauma surrounding the survivors of Hillsborough. After a run in Liverpool, it is now previewing at the National and opens on Wednesday. Booking: 0171-452 3000.
