Paul Thornley and Noma Dumezweni star as Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger respectively, while Cherrelle Skeete will portray their daughter, Rose Granger-Weasley.
Speaking about the family, Thornley said: “Ron is married to Hermione Granger and they’re now the Granger-Weasleys. Our magnificent daughter Rose Granger-Weasley is about to start at Hogwarts, which is obviously a big day for everyone.”
As seen in the photos, Skeete is wearing the all-new Hogwarts uniform. She said of the character: “Rose is ambitious, obviously her mum is Hermione so she’s got a lot to live up to. I think they’re quite similar in the fact they put a lot of pressure on themselves. And she just wants to do the right thing.”
Dumezweni casting as Hermione led to outrage from certain sectors of the internet who complained about the colour of the actor's skin. JK Rowling quickly came to her defence, arguing “Frizzy hair is canon”.
Speaking to Pottermore, the author said of the casting: “I saw Noma workshop the part and when John Tiffany told me he'd cast her, I was overjoyed. She gets Hermione inside out.”
The story of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be told in two parts, the scripts of both soon to be made available in book form. The story is not a prequel but is set 19 years after the events of The Deathly Hallows - Read everything we know about the play, here.
