From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A new £24m Game of Thrones-themed attraction will be opening in the UK.

Fans of the hit HBO series will be able to fully immerse themselves in its world, visiting iconic sets including the Map Room, Dragonstone’s Throne Room, Castle Black’s Mess Room, Cersei’s Courtyard in King’s Landing, and the famous Winterfell.

Plans for the forthcoming studio tour were announced in 2019, however, the project was only given the green light by local authorities this month.

The highly anticipated attraction will be set inside the Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, Northern Ireland.

Speaking to Northern Ireland Screen last year, Jeff Peters, HBO vice president of licensing and retail, said: “Some of the most iconic scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed at Linen Mill Studios.”

He added: “Our fans will soon have an opportunity to visit and see the work of the show’s incredible crew in the museum setting it deserves.”

As well as iconic sets, the tour will also feature costumes and props from the series and guests will be able to visit the “makeup and prosthetics shop”.

There will also be a restaurant “designed to replicate the studio catering experience”.
