Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Music

I'm into all sorts of music. I'm not very good at downloading it though; I leave that to my wife, Ange and the kids. At the moment I'm somewhere between 'High School Musical 3' and 'Hannah Montana'. I'm very influenced by my kids. What they love, I love. I enjoy Kings of Leon, and that sort of stuff. I like pop music and jazz. I'm a big Chet Baker fan.

Film

The last film I watched, I really enjoyed but I wouldn't call it a massive cultural experience. It was 'Iron Man' with Robert Downey, Jr. as a wealthy industrialist who builds an armoured suit to protect himself. My favourite film is probably 'Being There' with Peter Sellers, who plays a sheltered middle-aged gardener who has to confront the real world when his benefactor dies I like the Australian film 'Chopper' with Eric Bana, as a Mark Chopper Read, a famous criminal

TV

I like news and current affairs. When a news story breaks, I switch between news channels, and watch how people are covering it, rather than the story

Visual Art

I liked Banksy's spray painting on the South Bank. It was pretty cool.

Jason Donovan stars in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert at the Palace Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue. His latest album, 'Let It Be Me', is out now.
