It's a bit of a leap from Freddy Fisher, the jumped-up grump of a police officer in the late-lamented Pie in the Sky to the wonders of Noel Coward, but versatility comes easily to Malcolm Sinclair. His Malvolio at Sheffield ran from ramrod-backed superciliousness to leaping ecstasy and stung agony in the course of two hours. In Coward's terrific Hay Fever - second only in the canon to Private Lives - he plays the diplomat Richard Greatham. Fortunately, it's pronounced "gretum". No ham where Sinclair's concerned.
Previewing at the Savoy Theatre London W1 (0171-836 8888) from 14 June
