The Sixties (Barbican Art Gallery, 071- 638 8891, Thurs to 13 June). Enormous and mixed, an exhibition full of contradictions, and with luck, as stimulating and maddening as the decade itself. Caro, Hockney, Hodgkin, Riley, the people we know about. But also Gerald Laing, Pauline Boty (the only woman Pop artist), William Green (who inspired Tony Hancock's film The Rebel) and many more. Likely to be the most controversial exhibition of the year.

Georges Roualt, The Early Years (Royal Academy, 071-439 7438, Thurs to 6 June). Gloomy spiritual art, half- modern and pseudo-medieval, covering the years 1903-20.
