The Independent Recommends: Theatre
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.IN A SLIGHT but artful way, Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick delves into the lives of key members of the Carry On team - Kenneth Williams, Sid James and Barbara Windsor - over a 14-year period that saw a slump in demand for slap-and-tickle comedy. Terry Johnson's pastiche dialogue and farcical set-ups are delivered via uncannily accurate impersonations, particularly from Adam Godley as Ken.
Royal National Theatre, London SE1 (0171-452 3000) 7.30pm
Tom Barrie's Example: The Case of Craig and Bentley - continuing the Finborough's engaging "Discipline" season - may not be first-rate drama, but it rigorously conveys the sequence of events that led to the incapable Derek Bentley (right) being hanged for a crime he didn't commit, a judgement that set new standards in making the evidence fit the punishment.
Finborough, London SW10 (0171-373 3842) 8.30pm
