Ray Hodges, who runs the Home and Away fan club, on Eldorado: 'I was expecting it to be more glamorous. It didn't have the same appeal as Home and Away and Neighbours; I'm not sure it will have the same sex symbols, the good-looking people were few and far between. The beach looked awful, really tacky; the storyline seemed contrived, but soaps are contrived. Yes, it will be a rival to Home and Away. There are people who don't relate to the Australian image but might relate to this.'
