l The Lincoln (0161 834 9000), set to become Manchester's latest dining sensation, is millionaire bookmaker Fred Done's first foray into the business. The interior is adorned by fibre-optic lights and sumptuous fabrics and the chef, Jem O'Sullevan is from Didsbury's renowned Lime Tree.

l Last week saw the opening of bar and restaurant Denim (0171 407 0376) in Covent Garden. Spread over three floors it hopes to attract the cool crowd.

l A fourth branch of the Yo!Sushi chain is soon to open on London's Finchley Road. As usual, food will be served by conveyor belt, robots will dispense drinks, thumping house music will entertain. While the Harvey Nichols Yo!Sushi (0171 235 5000) is offering as much as you can eat each evening for pounds 15.
