Afternoon Play: Lessons for the Loveless (2.15pm R4)

Richard Cameron's poignant drama revolves around Rob (Robert Pickavance), a teacher trying to rescue his ailing marriage while putting on a school play based on The Seven Ages of Man. Rob's priorities get increasingly confused as he finds himself spending more time with the four teenage stars of the show than with his own wife and children.

Later on, The Friday Play: One (9pm) examines an Anglican priest (Chiwetel Ejiofor, above) struggling with his homosexuality. The narrative moves between his former life as a lay person, in which he fell for a married man, and his present situation in which he faces the prospect of coming out to his colleagues and congregation.
