Spectacular pictures from National Geographic Travel contest week five
'We are looking for images that show us the world: its people, places, and cultures'
As the 2019 National Geographic Travel Photo contest enters its fifth week, photographers of all ages and abilities have submitted a selection of stunning images.
This week's selection includes a high-five between two polar bears and a camouflaged gecko.
“We are looking for images that show us the world: its people, places, and cultures,” the magazine said in a statement. “Photos that tell the story of a place and travel moments that reveal what inspires you.”
The winners receive a cash prize and their work will be promoted by the publication.
The contest is open until 3 May and you can submit your photographs here.
Here The Independent has compiled the best pictures from this week's entries.
