Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Over the past few years I have been documenting protests, mainly in London, building an archive of images and exploring ways in which protest photography can be used to bring about social change, open up difficult conversations and what it’s role may be in the political and social debates of our time, such as Brexit.

The deadline is less than a week away and there is no doubt that the road ahead is still murky. Since June 2016, pro- and anti-EU supporters have taken to the streets to voice their opinions on the government’s Brexit plans. In 2018, I photographed supporters of both the remain and leave campaigns while attending the March for the Future and Brexit Betrayal rally in London. This selection of images is in black and white, with a focus on the individuals attending the protest rather than the crowds, the wording on the banners and the emotions of the protestors.
