The second album from this Welsh-Iranian singer-songwriter (discreetly assisted by Graham Dowdall) is a beguilingly unclassifiable mix of traditional roots and crunchy avant-garde sound effects and beats.
The sparing use of rustling insectoid electronics complements Roshi’s pure voice and the acoustic instrumentation such as piano and cello. Only when the pair lay on the dystopian sci-fi gloom too thickly does it become a mite predictable.
