It’s full of the “emotions in [the young Sydneysider’s] head”, and these seem to range away from the folkiness of his sister-brother act and into darker, broodier blues territory.
And therein lies the problem: for while Smoking Gun demonstrates Stone’s range as a guitarist, it also highlights his limitations as a solo singer. The mellow ones work better than the headbangers.
